Celebrating 20 Years of releasing original music, the enigmatic, Grammy-nominated Martin Buttrich presents his #9414 20 Years Tour, running from 20th September until 20th December and marking the launch of his new label, Rhythm Assault plus a new collaboration album project for 2015.

Could you tell me a bit about the path you took in the industry to get to where you are today?

My first experience of making music was when I was 16 years old and I was at a friends house. He had a keyboard and a computer with a program called Cubase and I was just curious to see how things worked. I had been DJing at school parties and always loved music but my friend showed me the world of creating music, which pulled the trigger. My brother was also into the whole Breakdance and Rap movement in the 80’s, he was one of the first in our town who had 2 turntables and a mixer. That had a massive impact on me as well. In 1994 I released my first record on a German label called Adam & Eve and started working with Timo Maas soon after that.

The launch of your new label Rhythm Assault is coming, what are your main aims with the label?

I don’t have any plans for the label in terms of what I will release. ‘Collaborator’, my new album, will be released on Rhythm Assault. The label will be a permanent playground. I want to use it as a platform to showcase new projects. I don’t want any restrictions, but a home I can consistently release my music on and other experiments.

When can listeners expect to find Rhythm Assault on download stores?

At the beginning of next year when my new album comes out.

Will you be pressing vinyl?

You’ll have to wait and see.

Your album collaboration project is coming next year. Are you able to let us know what names we can expect to see on the album project?

I cannot say much yet but I have a lot of people I admire working with me on it.
